Description of Pictures: Natasha Trethewey is the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Bunting Fellowship Program. Her poems have appeared in several journals and anthologies, including Agni, The American Poetry Review and The Best American Poetry 2000. She has won the 2001 Lillian Smith Award for poetry, the Grolier Poetry Prize and a Pushcart Prize. Her first book of poems, Domestic Work (2000), won the inaugural 1999 Cave Canem poetry prize. Her most recent collection of poetry is Bellocq's Ophelia (Graywolf Press, 2002), which was named a 2003 Notable Book by the American Library Association. She lives in Atlanta, where she is associate professor of English and creative writing at Emory University.
Tony DiTerlizzi, born into an artistic household, loved to draw and read and his wild imagination was sparked at an early age. After college and seven years as a successful fantasy artist, he fulfilled a childhood dream of writing and illustrating books for children including The Spider and the Fly (2003) which was awarded a Caldecott Honor Medal. His latest work is the five-book series, The Spiderwick Chronicles (Simon & Schuster, 2003-2004), a collaboration with his good friend Holly Black, based on an idea he has had in the works for 20 years. Mr. DiTerlizzi lives in Massachusetts.

I love well-behaved spiders! They are, in fact, how most people find my site. Unfortunately, my network has a limited bandwidth and pictures take up bandwidth. Spiders ask for lots and lots of pages and chew up lots and lots of bandwidth which slows things down considerably for regular folk. To counter this, you'll see all the text on the page but the images are being suppressed. Also, some system options like merges are being blocked for you.

2004 photos: Trips this year: (1) Margot and I went off to Scotland for a few days, my first time overseas. (2) I went to Hawaii on business (such a deal!) and extended it, spending a week in Hawaii and another in California. (3) I went to Tennessee to man a booth and extended it to go to my third Fan Fair country music festival. Equipment this year: I bought two Fujifilm S7000 digital cameras. While they produced excellent images, I found all of the retractable-lens Fuji models had a disturbing tendency to get dust inside the lens. Dark blurs would show up on the images and the camera had to be sent back to the shop in order to get it fixed. I returned one of the cameras when the blurs showed up in the first month. I found myself buying extended warranties on cameras. Number of photos taken this year: 110,000.
