Specific picture descriptions: Photos above with "i" icons next to the bracketed sequence numbers (e.g. "[1] ") are described as follows:
1. GET1_030719_017.JPG: McPherson Farm. To the right, you can see the equestrian statue of John Reynolds. The road between them is the Chambersburg Pike, which was the main road that the Confederates used to march into the area. The center of Gettysburg is about a mile south of here.
2. GET1_030719_026.JPG: This monument is in the approximate location where Maj General John Reynolds was killed. He was the highest-ranking officer on either side to die at Gettysburg.
3. GET1_030719_035.JPG: The statue to John Buford, the Union cavalry commander who engaged the Confederate troops here on the first day of battle, beginning a delaying tactic which, later assisted by Reynolds' corps, allowed the rest of Meade's army to come up and assume their position on Cemetery Ridge. The marker says "In Memory of Major General John Buford. Comdo. 1st Div Cav Corps, Army of the Potomac, who with the first inspiration of a cavalry officer selected this battlefield July 1st 1863."
4. GET1_030719_051.JPG: Reynolds' statue. The figure on the right in the background is next to the railroad tracks which were a battle landmark.
5. GET1_030719_084.JPG: The Eternal Peace Light Memorial

2003 photos: Equipment this year: I decided my Epson digital camera wasn't quite enough for what I wanted. Since I already had Compact Flash chips for it, I had to find another camera which used CF chips. That brought me to buy the Fujifilm S602 Zoom in March 2003. A great digital camera, I used it exclusively for an entire year. Trips this year: Three-week trip this year out west, mostly in Utah. Number of photos taken this year: 68,000.
