Disneyland is a theme park that is located at 1313 South Harbor Boulevard in Anaheim, California, USA. It opened on July 17, 1955. The park is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company. Currently the park has been visited by more than 515 million guests since it opened to the public, including presidents, royalty, and other heads of state.

When the park initially opened, it consisted of five themed areas:

* Main Street, U.S.A., an early 20th century Midwest town
* Adventureland, featuring jungle adventures
* Frontierland, illustrating western frontier
* Fantasyland, bringing fantasy into a reality
* Tomorrowland, looking into the future.

After the inital opening, three additional areas were added:

* In 1966, New Orleans Square, based on 19th century New Orleans
* In 1972, "Bear Country", later renamed Critter Country, themed both to the South in the 19th century and to forests of the Pacific Northwest.
* In 1993, Mickey's Toontown, themed on the Toontown seen in the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit

An elevated berm supports a narrow gauge railroad which circumnavigates the park. Disneyland features rides and attractions designed to appeal to all ages.

In 1998 Disneyland was renamed Disneyland Park in order to distinguish it from the larger Disneyland Resort complex.

1965 photos: From 1963 to 1966, our family lived in Chappaqua, New York while Dad worked for Standard Oil of New Jersey in the 30 Rock building in New York City. From 1954 to 1975, the bulk of these pictures were taken by my Dad, Glenn Guthrie At the time, he was using a complicated, but normal for the day, manual Kodak with light meters and such. All of Dad's pictures from this time were slides. Image quality is going to be variable because these are scans of slides and/or prints. The images shown here were scanned in two phases. In the early years of the website, I rescanned a selection of pre-digital images, all at fairly low quality settings. During the COVID pandemic, I launched the Great Rescanning Effort, rescanning ALL of my pre-digital images from various media (prints, slides, negatives, etc) at higher resolution and quality settings. Mutilple versions of images -- some from the initial scannning phase, some from prints, some from slides/negatives -- were posted so there are frequently duplicate images on the same page. At some point, I hope to have time to do a final review and get rid of the duplicates but that'll have to wait until all of the pre-digital images are finally posted. Family trips this year: Cross-country drive to visit Dad's folks San Diego, CA with stops in lots of national parks on the way (biggest ones being Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Mount Rushmore).
