The truth is, we don't have a tidy answer, because even the experts can't decide what a word is. Run the verb and run the noun: one or two? What about when your nose runs? Running a fever is different from running a marathon. Run for coffee? Run for office? The Oxford English Dictionary has 645 definitions, enough to make you want to... run. |
