Sick Bay:
Normally, the 'sick bay' is operated by an 'independent' duty corpsman chief or a first class petty officer. Both he and his assistant, an HN or HM3, are also assigned to NAV/X division however, since this ship did serve as the squadron commanders flagship (DESRON), a medical officer was embarked as ships company. Sick call was from 0730-0830 and from 1300-1330, when crew members suffering minor ailments could be treated or sent ashore (while in port) for treatments beyond the corpsmans capacity. |
