Ship's Laundry:
The Ship's Laundry washed and dried all laundry for the crew. Officers' uniforms were also pressed. The washer/extractor and drier were 50-pound (dry weight) capacity. In each division's berthing compartment, the dirty laundry would be collected in 2 bins, one for whites and one for blues (color). Each division would have a designated day when the berthing cleaners would bring the laundry here to have it washed and dried. At the end of the day a representative from each division would pick up and distribute the clean laundry. |
