Mount 52 (5" battery, 2nd mount) is a shielded dual-purpose (surface and air warfare) single barrel mount. It can fire up to 35 rounds per minute at an effective range of 9 miles and an effective altitude of 48,700 feet. The maximum range of the gun is 13 miles. It fires a variety of projectiles including: High Capacity (HC), High Explosive (HE), Armor Piercing (AP), White Phosphorus (WP), and special purpose ammunition. Each projectile weighs 70 lbs. with the separate powder casing weighing 42 lbs. |
