The outgoing first family packs their belongings and says good-bye to the loyal staff that has served them for years. In the 1800s, some departing families lingered for weeks, but today the residence staff has just a few hours to prepare the White House for its next occupants. As soon as the inaugural parade ends, the new president and first family move in and begin exploring their new home. |
