Author Sir Vidiadhar Surajprasad "Vidia" Naipaul (V.S. Naipaul), passed on August 11, 2018. Best known for "A Bend in the River" (1979), he was awarded the 2001 Nobel Prize in Literature "for having united perceptive narrative and incorruptible scrutiny in works that compel us to see the presence of suppressed histories," being compared with Joseph Conrad ("Heart of Darkness"). He's shown here at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue in 2010. |
