In June 1966, Lt. Cdr. Paul Galanti was shot down over North Vietnam. In Virginia, his wife Phyllis transformed from a shy navy wife into an activist who brought governmental, national, and international attention to the plight of POWs in Southeast Asia. She rallied massive local participation in a "Write Hanoi" campaign in 1971 and met with numerous world leaders. |
