The Tippecanoe Text-Book
For the presidential campaign of 1840, the Whigs coined the slogan "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too," which references William Henry Harrison's victory over the Indians in the Northwest Territory in 1811, and his running mate, John Tyler. When Harrison was derided as content to live in a log cabin with a barrel of hard cider, Whigs welcomes the homespun image and anoited him the "Log Cabin and Hard Cider" candidate.
