The Archaeology of Virginia Indian Sites
This map shows a sample of known prehistoric resources across Virginia. Many sites remain unknown. Paleoindian sites are few in number as this was the first entrance of people into the region. Many more Archaic sites are known due to population increase and seasonal mobility. Woodland sites are of moderate density with higher populated sites found along rivers for agriculture. |
