Thousands of years ago, as glaciers retreated and vegetation returned, herds of ancient animals migrated from Asia into North America. Following their primary sources of food, human families traversed the tundra or skirted the coastline into a new world. Wearing the skins of the animals they hunted and armed with stone and bone tools, they were the first migrants to Virginia.
