The King William [County] Declaration of 1957 breathed defiance of the Supreme Court ruling on segregated schools. It adopted the motto "Liberty or Tyranny" (seen also on the coin they struck). Virginia, however, had been integrated into the United States. It was not 1776 or 1981 again. |
