Existing comment: Cast, said to be of Daniel Boone's skull
c. 1845
In 1845, the state of Kentucky reinterred Boone in a place of honor at Frankfort. At that time, for the purpose of phrenology, a mold of his skull was made, from which this is a cast. One modern anthropologist, however, has suggested that the mold is of the skull of a young African American man.
