In the most brazen of their attempts, Jefferson enlisted Virginia Congressman William Branch Giles to submit resolutions in the House of Representatives demanding detailed information regarding foreign loans used to pay down the national debt.
Hamilton delivered extensive reports -- totaling more than 400,000 words. Given the evidence, the House rejected resolutions to censure Hamilton. |
