Existing comment: World War I Bond Drive Costume
During both World war I and World War II, the United States government sold War Bonds to help finance the war effort. Celebrities, civilian organizations, and federal agencies all participated to widely advertised campaigns to sell Liberty Bonds throughout the country. This costume from World War I would have been worn by persons selling bonds or participating in a rally, tableau, or pageant promoting their sale.
