Existing comment: The Korshak Collection
Erie Korshak was the publisher of a pioneering science fiction book company, Shasta Publishers, founded in 1947. Shasta ushered in the transition of important science fiction literature from magazines printed on cheap pulp paper to hardcover, library-quality books. Much of that art was displayed at the company office and Korshak family home in Chicago.
From this early exposure Stephen Korshak, son of Erie Korshak, developed a lifelong interest in and passion for illustration art. Building upon the collection his father started, Stephen has created an incredible study in the illustration of imaginative literature. Today the Korshak Collection spans more than 150 years of artistic production, features significant artists from both America and Europe, and includes work that truly illustrates the breadth of the field... and it is still growing!
In Stephen Korshak's own words:

"Any collection is an intellectual exercise in organizing tangible items into a set. It is a manifestation of the collector's vision of the field. Of course, as in life, there are many visions and no one vision is necessarily better than another. This collection is a vision of the fantastic. We hope that you will, as much as we have, learn not only about the whole new field but also a lot about yourself."
