In 1869, her body was removed from the grounds of the penitentiary and returned to her family for burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Washington. The simple stone shown here was erected in 1878 and stood for the next 100 years paragraph.
A more modern stone now marks the grave of Mary Surratt. |
