Opened in 1796 by the Episcopal Parish of Trinity Church, St. Paul's Chapel is the oldest public building in continuous and the only remaining Colonial-era church in Manhattan. In 1789 George Washington prayed at St. Paul's after his inaugural as the first president of the United States.
An artist's rendering, looking south on Broadway, shows the relative proximity of St. Paul's Chapel (foreground) to Trinity Church in the distance, 0.3 miles.
