Walkway Over Broadway
In the 1860s, Broadway was a busy dirt road with no traffic lights and plenty of horses and carriages. To make crossing the street safer and more convenient, a bridge was built at Fulton and Broadway, adjacent to St. Paul's Chapel.
It was torn down less than two years later because a local hatter with strong influence complained he was losing business.
