An unidentified photographer took this view of Abraham Lincoln at the Capitol, standing in the center under a temporary wooden canopy, while he delivered his inaugural address on March 4, 1861. A construction crane is visible on the right as work on the unfinished Capitol dome would continue until the end of 1863. |
