50 signing pens representing 50 pieces of legislation
President Kennedy and President Johnson used these pens to sign bills passed between 1961 and 1965. Presidents often use several pens to sign important legislation and present the pens as keepsakes of the occasion. The pens shown here were all given to Lawrence F. O'Brien, in whose memory this gallery is named, in recognition of his contribution to the passage of the numerous acts. Surrounding the display of pens are photos showing the laws in action.
