Senior curator of astronomy and space sciences in NASM's Space History Division, David DeVorkin is a prolific author, lecturer, and curator with an international reputation in the history of astronnomy. His current research is on the life and career of astronomer Fred Whipple, who transformed and re-energized the Smithsonian Astophyical Observatory in the 1950s and 1960s. Dr. DeVorkin is author/editor/compiler of nine books and has published more than 100 scholarly and popular articles. His main fields of interest are the history of modern astrophysics and the development of space sicences from the V-2 rocket to the present.
