LeRoy Neiman's Big Band, painted in 2004-2005, depicts eighteen of the jazz musicians Neiman most admired, as a kind of personal "dream" band. Americans all, these musicians each left an indelible musical legacy.
The Natonal Museum of American History preserves artifacts from many of these musicians, including Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane.
