Racial discrimination was a fact of life in wartime Hanford. African Americans were typically relegated to service jobs such as automobile repair. In housing, segregation extended beyond the separation of whites and African Americans -- Hispanic workers at Hanford were housed in special accommodations in the nearby town of Pasco. |
