Yet finding value attached to bookplates -- other than as an object of purely personal interest -- is comparatively modern. While there is a high interest in collecting bookplates as pieces of vintage decorative art, there is also an interest in collecting them as personal relics of well-known people, for their value is often far greater than the old book in which they are found affixed. |
