Existing comment: Utah onyx, otherwise known as travertine, consists of cream-colored banded calcite and was used in the Capitol front vestibule and Senate Chamber. It can be found in various areas throughout Utah, such as Box Elder, Millard, Utah and Tooele counties. It was very popular during the Roman Empire and is currently one of the most frequently used stones in modern architecture. It can be seen in its natural state near Mt. Nebo in Juab County.
