Existing comment: Chief Massasoit. This was the Indian chief who befriended the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock. It was done for Massachusetts by a Utah native named Cyrus Dallin. In 1922, Dallin donated a plaster cast of the sculpture (which is on display in Plymouth) to Utah and they had it in the capital building. In 1959, they decided to bronze it and move it outside. Massasoit himself has nothing to do with Utah which I found a little odd.
