South Vietnam's Demise:
Following the defeat of the Easter Offensive, North Vietnam agreed to a cease-fire in 1973. The termination of hostilities lasted two years, during which the last American soldiers returned to the United States. In 1975, the North Vietnamese launched a large-scale invasion of South Vietnam, overrunning that country and unifying all of Vietnam under a communist banner. |
