Existing comment: Send More Tanks!
To stop North Korea's armored thrust, American forces required the large-scale reinforcement of more powerful tanks. General MacArthur requested the full complement of tanks for each infantry division and an additional three medium tank battalions. To meet this demand, the Army dispatched the 6th, 70th, and 73rd Tank Battalions from the United States. The 70th and 73rd Tank Battalions were raised largely from school troops at Fort Knox and Fort Benning. Some of the tanks that equipped the 70th Tank Battalion were refurbished monument tanks only recently on display around Fort Knox.
