Existing comment: T-34/85 Tanks Spearhead the Invasion:
Spearheading the North Korean invasion force of 80,000 men were the 140 tanks of the 105th Armored Brigade. Its four regiments used Soviet-built T-34/85 tanks. Heavily armored, mounting powerful 85mm guns, the T-34/85s were diesel powered and could travel 300 miles before refueling. This tank emerged from World War II with the reputation of being one of the best combat vehicles of the war. The North Koreans possessed nearly 280 of these tanks distributed among three armored brigades. The 105th Armored Brigade alone, however, represented 50 percent of this tank fleet. Facing this armored threat, the South Korean army lacked tanks and antitank weapons.
