Engraving
Paul Revere's first political cartoon was this engraving protesting the Stamp Act. He based his design on a British print, but added touches relevant to his colonial audience.
Revere shows New York, Boston, and Virginia slaying the Stamp Act dragon. An effigy of pro-Stamp Act member of the House of Commons hangs from the Liberty Tree. Copies of this print were offered for sale in Boston by Revere in January 1766 for 1/10th of a colonial dollar, equivalent to about $3.00 today.
