Toys and Trains from the Jerni Collection

The New-York Historical Society's Jerni Collection contains over 10,000 European and American toys and trains created between 1850 and 1950. The Collection comprises rare trains and toys produced by European manufacturers, including Marklin, Gebruder Bind, and Rock & Graner and American firms, like Carlisle & Finch, Ives, and New York's own Lionel.
Assembled over 50 years by Jerry and Nina Greene, this encyclopedic collection includes unique handmade and historically significant European and American items, including depictions of actual rail stations, bridges and buildings, some in New York City.
Purchased by the New-York Historical Society in 2014, selected items from the Collection are displayed here for the first time. Additional Jerni Collection toys are on view downstairs in the DiMenna Children's History Museum.
