Chapter heading for My Adventures as an Illustrator

One night at a party, after much nagging on the part of an art editor from Good Housekeeping, Rockwell agreed to do a series of paintings for him thinking he'd forget it all the next day. He didn't forget and when Rockwell refused, he threatened to sue. Post editors advised him to leave town for a while. Rockwell accepted an invitation from friend Clyde Forsythe to visit him in California. In Alhambra, Rockwell was introduced to Mary Barstow, a recent graduate of Stanford University who was teaching elementary school at the time. The couple hit it off and in three weeks became engaged. Three weeks later they married; the following day they left for New York.
