Cookie Monster
During his first appearances on Sesame Street, Cookie Monster had not been given a name. Puppeteer Frank Oz recalled, "The truth is, Cookie Monster, in the beginning, he was not the Cookie Monster. He would eat anything." However, in the February 17, 1970 episode, the puppet appeared on a game show segment titled, "The Mr. and Mrs. Game." Oz added, Cookie Monster "... was given the choice of $10,000 in cash, a new car, a trip to Hawaii, or a cookie. And he took the cookie." From that point on, he was known as Cookie Monster. |
