Existing comment: Atropine Autoinjector
On World War I battlefields, medics carried glass syrettes of atropine for treatment of suffocating gasses. This usage was more beneficial for pain management than treatment of gas poisoning, but battlefield experience showed a need for quick access to atropine in combat settings. The autoinjector, like the one shown here developed in 1958, is an answer to this problem and remains in use for a variety of drug delivery solutions today.
