Existing comment: Mustard, the King of Battle Gases (1)

Mustard gas casualties, especially those exposed to high concentrations or for long periods of time or who were delayed in receiving immediate treatment, were bathed with hot water and soap to remove the chemical from their skin. If the mustard gas was not scrubbed off within 30 minutes of exposure, blistering occurred.

Portable shower units with specially trained medics helped minimize its blistering effect. These consisted of a "bath truck [that was] provided with [a] hot water bnoiler and a number of fold-down shower heads."
