Existing comment: 150 years ago the City of Frederick was transformed into a major military medical center. During the Civil War, it welcomed so many patients that they outnumbered the residents. The story of those patients, their caregivers and the role of this building in particular lie just inside our doors. They are powerful stories of compassion, healing and medical transformations. These traditions of care and medical innovation continue into the 21st century which is why we can say -- our museum is saving lives today.
The National Museum of Civil War Medicine welcomes you to Frederick. Come inside!
