Most mid-nineteenth century medicines were shipped and stored in glass bottles such as these. One of the bottles still has a partial paper label with the letters 'Antimon...' It contained antimony, a toxic element that was caused as an emetic (to cause vomiting) during the Civil War.

Socks and Sock Tips:
Socks would be refurbished and sent to soldiers in need. If the bottom of the sock was too damaged to be used, the top would be removed and another bottom knitted to replace the worn area. Note the bloodstains on one of the socks.
