As detailed in this 1910 notice, individuals prohibited from entering the United States included "Idiots, imbeciles, feeble-minded persons and epileptics" as well as "Criminals, polygamists, and anarchists." Also excluded were "Paupers and persons likely to become a public charge." Written for use at Ellis Island, this notice was revised for the Galveston, Texas, immigration station. |
