Existing comment: Barred from Playgrounds and Hotels:
Many Americans wrote to President Harry S Truman to voice their opposition to racial segregation. Eleven-year-old Andrew S. Evans wrote regarding segregated playgrounds. Nine-year-old J. Tagliaru was very upset that 51 school children were not allowed into a Washington DC hotel because of the race of four of the children. In his letter, Tagliaru added two drawings to illustrate his displeasure and to depict his vision for a better society.
