An anonymous watercolor entitled "18th century British dockyard and harbour." It is believed to be a view of Portsmouth by Duclos-Legris, a French prisoner-of-war there from 1806 to 1814. The ships in the foreground are the dreaded "pontons" or prison hulks. |
