This is one of the largest and most elaborate wooden French prisoner-of-war ship models in existence. Virtually every facet, from the figurehead of a Roman consul to the brightly colored stern with two projecting galleries, is of the highest quality. The hancing pieces at the breaks of the sides are a whimsical fantasy, though the carronades on the poop deck, the flag lockers in the after side of the poop railing, and the scuttlebutts on the forecastle are all rendered accurately. |
