Existing comment: George Stockwell was a respected model maker in the late 18th-century England. His penchant for placing notes inside his models had shed new light on the role of the Royal Navy's mostly anonymous shipwright-modelers. This note was found inside Stockwell's model of the Bristol, a 50-gun ship of 1775, now part of the Thomson Collection at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
