Existing comment: The Walt Disney Concert Hall was initiated in 1987 by a generous gift from Lillian Disney, the widow of Walt Disney. In 1995, Mayor Richard Riordan was asked by Concert Hall leadership to lead the campaign. He asked Eli Broad to chair this endeavor, who, with co-chairs Mayor Riordan and Music Center Chair Andrea Van de Kamp, raised the remaining funds to make the hall a reality. The County of Los Angeles embraced the project, providing numerous resources and a deep commitment to its completion.
