So you thought when visiting Mono Lake you were going to have shrimp for dinner? Look again with one of the magnifying lenses. The brine shrimp of Mono Lake are not quite what most people think they are going to find here.
Look closely. Can you see the egg sack on the female brine shrimp?
Can you identify the male brine shrimp by the claspers or pinchers on the front of his body? They look a bit like a handlebar mustache.
How many different colors of brine shrimp can you find?

Now look for the alkali fly larvae. They are the wormlike creatures crawling around searching for a tasty meal of algae.
Are there any adult alkali flies in the tank today?
