Existing comment: Mt Olivet Cemetery; Mary Surratt

The Mount Olivet Cemetery was founded in 1858. It was purchased by the Roman Catholic Church for use as Washington's official Catholic burial ground. Catholics in other cemeteries were sometimes reinterred here. The cemetery now has at least four famous and infamous people buried here: James Hoban (White House architect), Constantino Brumidi (Capitol dome painter), Henry Wirz (commandant of the Confederate Andersonville Prison in Georgia), and Mary Surratt (hanged for her questionable role in the conspiracy to kill President Lincoln).

This is a photo of her gravesite, marked only as "Mrs Surratt". Note the (fake) flowers. Someone's obviously watching out for these graves.
