In 1980 Andrew Exler and Shawn Elliot went to an event at Disneyland called Date Night. These young men danced together even though they weren’t supposed to—the rules said couples had to be a man and a woman. Guards took them off the dance floor and Andrew Exler sued Disneyland.
Lawyers argued in court for four years. Finally, a judge said Disneyland’s rule was wrong, but only in this case. A year later, Disneyland dropped the rule but they said it was for a different reason. |
