Existing comment: KATANEH VAHDANI was born in Iran, a country with an extensive art history. She feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to study art in the U.S. since 2000. Kataneh enrolled in the California Institute of the Arts (CAL ARTS) in 2001 and has found a lively and creative niche in the character animation program. Her goal is to make a difference in the world and she is trying to reach that through her art.

CAL ARTS was incorporated in 1961 as California Institute of the Arts, the first degree-granting institution of higher learning in the U.S. created specifically for students of both the visual and the performing arts. The Institute was established through the vision and generosity of Walt and Roy Disney and the merger of two professional schools, the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music (founded 1883) and the Chouinard Art Institute (founded 1921). In 1971, Cal Arts moved to its permanent site in Valencia, California. Faculty artists actively pursue their own art making while acting as mentors and colleagues with students. Alumni include award-winning filmmakers, performers and artists whose works continue to shape and redefine the creative future.
